Card Cartography: Day 1
As I’m working on reconfiguring my business to be what I want, I’m trying to bring some lightness, ease, and fun to how I work. This is a week of intuitive play.
Ace of Cups
the kernel/seed of the suit of cups (suit of water, emotions)
a fresh start with emotional receptivity and openheartedness
Into the Chrysalis 🐛
Why am I currently identifying with the gooey caterpillar soup?
Because work isn't quite working for me the way I need it to.
So I'm leaning into abundance instead and paying people I trust for help.
Being Ship and Anchor for My Ballast Year
2025 is My Ballast Year.
Ballast is about when I need to be bolstered up, and when I need to be the bolster for others. When social and governmental systems can't be trusted to look out for us, we must look after each other. We must be each other's ballast. It's on us to be the stabilizers for others to fly, and to take our turn flying when others offer us stability.
A Brave, Evolving Launch Season
I'm leaning into my Q4 spirit as a brave, evolving leader.
I'm spreading the spirit of directing my own sails.
I'm launching some new offers and reaching out for your help to spread the word.
Pirating and Pollinating: Building Abundance Through Meaningful Connections
I know my work is better when I do it with others. That can be true for all of us if we think of ourselves as parts of an ecosystem. Our outputs can be as rich and varied as a forest when we share resources the way woodland species do.
Telling Work Stories on Our Own Terms
I’m looking forward to pirating my way around Baltimore for the American Alliance of Museums conference this year.
I’m looking forward to not having a single soundbite to describe my work.
I’m looking forward to telling the story of my work in a variety of ways that don’t have to conform to a set job title. Which, of course, you can still do even if you do have a set job title.
Finding Magic in the Discomfort Zone
To make real magic, you’ve got to identify the conditions that make you productively uncomfortable, and make the decision to put yourself in those conditions. It’s taken me a long time to hone my ability to identify and embrace those conditions for myself, but now that I’m working for myself, I’ve found it’s easier to lean into them.
Ambition & Ego Death in Change Work
If I’m working toward change, whether that’s for individuals or organizations, that change can and should happen without me there to see it. I still struggle with what the roles of ambition and public recognition are in this mix.
Planting Seeds of Community
My first public offer in collaboration with Rebecca Shulman and David Bowles is here!
It’s SEED:Baltimore. It’s a 1-day, in-person workshop in Baltimore on May 16, 2024 (the day before the American Alliance of Museums annual conference sessions begin), followed by 6 virtual 90-minute sessions over the following months, all accompanied by a resource library.
Welcome to My Rippling Year
The word I’m centering for 2024 is RIPPLING.
Ripples make change gently and from small beginnings. They can’t happen alone. Rippling is a collective enterprise, and it touches more than it starts with. More than its source can ever know.
