Creative Collaborations
Community and collectivity are always worth prioritizing, even if it means forging a new path to get there.
Working independently doesn’t have to mean working alone.

Lost Jobs, Found Voices
w/ Alli Hartley-Kong & Mimosa Shah
collective catharsis, community theatre, creative response
GOAL: to document the immense amounts and multiple forms of professional loss in the GLAM sector in 2020 & 2021
This documentary theatre project is a collaboration with Alli Hartley-Kong and Mimosa Shah, creating a collective storytelling project based on 30+ hours of interviews with GLAM professionals (Galleries, Libraries, Museums, Archives) who experienced some form of professional loss during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We invited people to participate by sharing their stories with us, which we turned into a series of anonymized scenes addressing the wave of mass lay-offs, resignations, retirements, buyouts, labor protests, and more that rocked the field throughout the first phases of the pandemic.
Museum Teaching Mashup
@ Ogden Museum of Southern Art
experimentation, creative constraints, pushing practice
GOAL: to encourage museum educators toward a spirit of experimentation, spontaneity, and play in museum galleries
With a few trusted collaborators, I planned and hosted an experimental “pirate” teaching session outside the schedule of the National Art Education Association conference.
Arts educators attending the conference embraced getting out of their comfort zones and testing new methods.
"Experimenters" were randomly assigned to small groups focused on individual artworks, then tasked with creating a 5-minute experience to engage an audience with that artwork, which they proceeded to facilitate.
“Tonight's #museumedmashup reminded me why I do what I do. Let's all have more fun, eh?”—Mashup experimenter

“Rachel is full of good creative ideas, enthusiasm and joy without taking up too much space. She is a good listener and collaborator with a wealth of museum experience, knowledge of art, multiple audiences and interactivity. When I think of her, I think of color, rainbows, surprise and possibility. I recommend working with her to bring a spark into your organization!”
